Hey all you C/S Festivarians Check this out!!!

Put Camp Traction on your Myspace page and get on the Camp Traction friends list at

http://www.myspace.com/camptraction

Note- If you travel to a festival and are unsure where the camp is located your best bet is to find the sober table and with luck they will know where to send you. We are not sanctioned by the promoters and often times the workers have NO idea who we are or what we are all about.

In a pinch and assuming you have cell phone service you can call me at 206-650-7550

Happy Camping

Camping Clean and Sober

In the summer of 2006a new concept was unveiled
at High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy California.

A small group of sober friends worked with the promoters to secure a designated area
where we could set up a sobercamp with a banner where those clean and sober fans
who wanted to could camp together at the festival.

For me the dilemma has always been........
"Great, there is a table at the show and meetings during set break,
but when the show is over at a weekend festival........

What now????

Camp Traction was conceived as a means of dealing with this very dilemma!

Camp Traction was setup with out any knowledge of how many people would participate.
We had an idea and a couple people and a big book.
We set up meetings twice a day at 12:00pm and 12:00am.
We had limited advertising and even less money.

We worked with the Wharfrats once we got in to help spread the word .

By the end of the weekend we had received 38 dollars in donations,
made 27 new friends,
held 8 meetings,
and realized 1 dream.

It was a terrific experience and I cannot wait to do it again.

The promoters loved us and we even had locals from the very small town of Quincy
come to OUR meetings and said they wish we wouldn't leave.

There is a great potential for this concept.

This year we plan on being at High Sierra again as well as
Bonnaroo 2007, Summer Solstice Festival, 10K Lakes Festival,
Hornings Hideout 2007, Camp Zoe-Big Summer Classic
and are looking into All Good, Gathering of the Vibes and more.

If you would like to Co-Host a camp at a festival you will be attending let us know.

There are now tons of festivals (over 300 according to Jambase)
and none that I know of where there is a designated area
for like minded people to share the gift of sobriety
with each other and enjoy the music together.

It is my desire to make this available to everyone who wants it.

Therefore I am putting it out there that
Camp Traction is looking for people who would be willing
to take a small amount of responsibility
set up a popup, hang a banner,
schedule some meetings and act as a camp host.

As in most show situations
we will try to get folks into the show in exchange for your service work
but at this time nothing can be guaranteed.

If you know of a show or festival that could benefit from an opportunity like this
please contact me and I will make an effort to get in touch with
the promoters and we can see what happens.
